TRAVEL PLANNING
RESOURCES
I’ll be real with you — sometimes travel planning
can be totally overwhelming.
But with the right resources, it doesn’t have to be!
These are all the tools I personally use
to plan every trip and make each one
as seamless as possible.
FLIGHTS
Google Flights
I always begin my search on Google Flights because it’s such an easy-to-use tool and helps me identify the cheapest days to fly. Then I cross-reference with airlines’ websites and other tools (like Skyscanner) to make sure I get the best deal possible.
Skyscanner
I love Skyscanner — it’s been my go-to ever since it launched. Skyscanner compares all major airlines to find the best deals possible. Some super cool features: search the entire month for the best day to fly, set price alerts, and explore ‘everywhere’ when you’re not sure where you want to fly to next!
Seat Guru
Before selecting seats on your upcoming flight, check out SeatGuru! As anyone who’s ever flown before knows, not all airplane seats are created equal. SeatGuru has color-coded maps of your airline seating chart and can help identify the best seats on most flights.
ACCOMMODATION
Booking.com
Booking.com is my #1 go-to site for hotel searches because of how seamless the process is. There are no hidden fees, you can get free cancellation on most rooms, which allows for flexibility, and by joining the loyalty program you can score discounted rooms, free upgrades, and other perks.
Airbnb
Airbnb is a cool way to discover unique stays around the world. Whether that’s a bubble tent in the desert, a secluded tree-house in the forest, a castle in the countryside, or a luxurious villa in the jungle — Airbnb has it all.
GETTING AROUND
Uber
Uber has been a game-changer. No more worrying about a language barrier or sweating whether the taxi service you picked in a foreign country is actually legit. Uber is flexible, safe, easy to use, breaks down language barriers, and offers unparalleled convenience, making travel comfortable and easy.
Rentalcars.com
Having your own set of wheels opens up a world of possibilities and adventure! Rentalcars.com works with hundreds of car rental companies all over the world, compares prices, and makes renting a car at home and abroad hassle-free.
Trainline
Trainline is Europe’s leading train and bus ticket app, which consolidates tickets from over 270 providers in more than 40 European countries. It helps you easily compare prices to thousands of destinations and makes ticking cities off that Euro bucket list a breeze.
Bolt
Bolt is a ridesharing app and Europe’s answer to Uber. You can request a ride, rent a scooter, get food and groceries delivered, as well as manage business travel with Bolt. It’s available 24/7 and also offers ride options ranging from eco-friendly to women-only rides.
TRAVEL INSURANCE + STAYING CONNECTED
World Nomads
Good travel insurance will cover theft, lost or damaged gear, illnesses before or during your trip, and medical emergencies. World Nomads offers all of the above, plus 24/7 emergency assistance, coverage on 200+ adventure activities, and even lets you buy coverage while you’re already on the road. I never go on a trip without it!
NordVPN
When connecting to public WiFi networks, hackers can easily get their hands on your personal data. NordVPN encrypts your internet connection and keeps your online presence secure, allowing you to use public WiFi networks safely. Step up your privacy game with a VPN!
GET ORGANIZED
Planning an epic trip or just looking for some inspiration? With the power of Pinterest, you can discover new destinations, travel tips, packing guides, and ideas on all the coolest things to see & do around the world — so check out my travel boards! I use Pinterest extensively before planning any trip.
Trip Advisor
TripAdvisor offers a wide variety of travel planning tools. I use it mostly to read restaurant reviews and check out photos. As with any opinion-based forum, it can be tricky to evaluate a place based only on reviews since everyone’s opinion is so subjective. But I still find that it’s a great travel planning resource — just not my only one.
Google Maps
I use Google Maps to plan all my trips. Seeing everything laid out visually on a map helps me determine the itinerary, makes my trips more efficient, and ensures I don’t miss a thing on my must-do list!
TravelSpend
With this app, you can easily stick to your budget by tracking all of your travel expenses in one place. Sync & share with family or friends so you can organize your budget together and split costs if you’re traveling with a group. You can add expenses in any currency and one of the best perks — it’s available offline!
Wise
One of the things I love about traveling is meeting new people from other countries! Making new friends means potentially taking new trips together and share in splitting costs. I use Wise to quickly and effortlessly make international transfers to friends in their local currency.
WorldRemit
So you traveled to a remote little island where cash is king & ATMs are finicky and far and few between. Whether it’s because the ATM is empty or it just doesn’t like your card, you can’t withdraw any cash and now you’re spiraling! This is where WorldRemit comes to the rescue. Simply choose a local bank or shop, send cash to yourself, and pick it up when it’s ready. Easy peasy!
STAYING FIT
Tone It Up
Staying fit is a big priority for me, especially when I’m traveling a lot and out of my daily routine at home. I love the fun & effective strength training workouts from TIU because most of them can be done anywhere I am. 500+ on-demand workouts help remove the guesswork, keep me on track & motivated to hit my goals each day.
Alo Moves
In addition to strength training, I love mixing in pilates and yoga 1-2x per week, along with daily core work.
With Alo Moves, you can work out from the comfort of your living room to a hotel room across the world. Traveled somewhere extra remote? No Wi-Fi, no problem! You can even download classes offline and take your practice on the go.
